2010: Soundmunches #14

Christina Aguilera- Not Myself Tonight (Video link. The video was an absolute overdose of lesbianism and leather!!)
Diana Vickers (X Factor contestant) – Once (Video link)
Kelly Rowland – Commander (Song link. I see the song is written for me, LOL.)
Cobra Starship – Living In The Sky With Diamonds (Song link)
Jennifer Lopez - On The Radio (Song link)
Katie Melua (famous for her song ‘Nine Million Bicycles’) – The Flood
Alphabeat – DJ (I Could Be Dancing)

Alexandra Burke feat. Pitbull – All Night Long
M.I.A – Born Free (This is one heck of a controversial video, so controversial that it got pulled out from Youtube.)

Welcome To New Zealand

(Clockwise from Top Left)
Alexandra – She wore boots for go-sees (an absolute no-no), remained plus-sized, had the worst complexion amongst the girls this week. Nevertheless, she killed the photo shoot. Orgasmic, in Tyra’s words. Oh well, she stays for one more week.

Jessica – I really do like her look, but not her personality. She was smart to have made it back to the agency first. Somehow, all the judges started to label her as a commercial model this week.

Angelea (Challenge Winner) – She was absolutely incredible, as she was able to make it to all the 6 go-sees, impress all the designers, and still make it back to the agency in second spot.

GO-SEE LATECOMERS
Krista
– She had an amazing photo shoot, going wild all over the sheep. She wins best photo for a consecutive week.

Raina – She’s always very dynamic during her photo shoots, but she still does not shine during the challenges.

Alasia – Her amateurishness surfaced during the go-see and photo shoot. Same poses, same emotions, no development from her as a model at all. We just see her bickering and quarrelling with other models in the house.

Bottom 2: Jessica and Alasia
Eliminated: ALASIA (She was surprisingly gracious during her elimination.)

4th place: Jay Nicolas Sario

Big Hair Day

The better photos (clockwise from Top Left): Krista, Raina, Jessica, Alasia, Angelea

Main highlights:
The girls received a surprise visit from fashion designer Whitney Port.
Krista wins the runway challenge held at a drag queen cabaret.
She and Angelea win specially designed pieces from Whitney Port's collection.
For their photo shoot, the models had to model in dresses made entirely out of hair.
Krista receives the first call-out, and wins a surprise first-class ticket to their international destination - New Zealand.

Bottom 2: Alexandra (didn't seem to be exuding a lot of passion) and Anslee
Eliminated: Anslee, who was seen purely as a beauty model.

Top 7 performs Inspirational Songs

Top Band
Crystal Bowersox – ‘People Get Ready’ by The Impressions

She sang till she cried. Inspirational indeed. Once again, she was in a completely different league. Stop it. Stop this freaking competition. Just hold a Crystal Bowersox mini-concert every week. We don’t need those 6 wannabes around.

Lee DeWyze – ‘The Boxer’ by Simon and Garfunkel
He did slightly better this week, evoking more emotion and sincerity than before. I could see more of his personality coming through. Smiling more and making more eye contact would definitely do him good!

Bottom Band (Yes, the 5 of them)
Michael Lynche – ‘Hero’ by Chad Kroeger

Oh, isn’t this the song which is played whenever Channel 5 shows Smallville advertisements? I loved how Kara summarized it. It didn’t really suit his personality, the song choice was stupid (I bet he just sang ‘Hero’ because of the title), but he’s surely going to be safe looking at the number of screwed up performances before him.

Casey James – ‘Don’t Stop’ by Fleetwood Mac
This was nothing very different from what he has always been doing. He’s a good contestant to kick-start the show, but it certainly didn’t serve as a very memorable performance. Given the theme was ‘Inpsiration Songs’, ‘Don’t Stop’ wasn’t necessarily a very smart song choice as well.

Aaron Kelly – ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ by R. Kelly
That was a clichéd song choice I would give A. Kelly an ‘A’ for effort, but oh gosh, it was very painful to hear. Well, at least he got the audience rallying behind him.

Tim Urban – ‘Better Days’ by Goo Goo Dolls
I know this song! There wasn’t any spark this time around! Ellen very aptly described him as the ‘Soup of the Day’ which standards vary every week. A pity he didn’t manage to stay on for one more week.

Siobhan Magnus – ‘When You Believe’ by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston
This was another cliché. She needed to have ONE good performance after all her crap the past 3 weeks, and she absolutely did not pull it off this time around. Put her in the bottom three now, for goodness sake. What’s worse, she continues talking nonsense, as usual, after her performance.

Bottom 3: Aaron Kelly, Casey James and Tim Urban

Eliminated: Tim Urban

Going Down In Flames

Yin Yang is the name of their merged tribe.

J.T assumed Parvati and Russell both played their respective hidden immunity idols. He subsequently trusts Russell’s fabricated story, and even goes to the extent of disbelieving Rupert when the latter was informed by Sandra that the Villains were creating an absolute scam for the Heroes. How smart is that!

Queen Parvati takes control of the entire game now. She had two hidden immunity idols, and gave both of them to Sandra and Jerri, nullifying the votes received by the latter, and subsequently sending the very intelligent J.T out.

Things I learnt from Shutter Island

  • Should I ever be brainwashed, I would not be called L O U I S L I M, but O L L I S U M I.
  • I will not embark on a mission with a stranger and get myself stranded on an island full of lunatics. Neither would I carry out an investigation in an institution which looks into the ‘moral fusion between law and order and clinical care’.
  • Wives should never kill their children, dump them into the river, and subsequently lie to their husband that they sent them to school.

  • I will never make a movie that lets my audience slog through 2 hours of braindrain before I reveal the last affecting moments of my plot.
  • Recurring dream sequences can be a bitch, especially when your late wife (played by Michelle Williams) keeps popping up in flames and ashes.
  • Rats scurrying out of holes should never be used unnecessarily. It just cheapens the movie.
  • You don’t know what’s real and what's illusional in this life. Don't think too much though; it can drive you absolutely paranoid and insane.
  • DON’T TRUST ANYONE. Being overtrusting screws you up, as cynical as it may sound. Of course, I don't buy this point.

I thought the central problem of the movie - of the unstable boundary between the reality of the island and Teddy’s perception of it - lost its focus as the story moved on.

Kick Ass.

I love Hit Girl, played by Chloe Moretz. You may remember her in (500) days of Summer. How can you possibly love a girl who wields such outlandish weaponry made by her father (played by Nicolas Cage), and who mercilessly slices heads and tears guts of men out?? Well, she managed to do just that. She says the 'f' word too.

I love the whole affair of mockery revolving around the whole movie.
I love how Dave thinks he looks really cool in the scuba suit. Dorks remain dorks after all.

"With no power comes no responsibilty!" - Dave

Actually, I loved how the movie satirized society's obsession with the online world, in this case, Youtube. See how Dave wasn't taken seriously until a cell-phone video of him getting bashed up was uploaded on Youtube. He gets famous for being a loser. The exact formula of becoming a celebrity.

"The action scenes bounce between the style of Tarantino to the stupidity of Looney Tunes, and some of them verge on torture porn" - thestar.com

Watch it if you want a good time.
