YOU'VE GOT TO READ THIS.

Wiki definitions of Ah Lians and Ah Bengs:
Ah Lian is a pejorative term applied to a certain group of Chinese girls in Southeast Asia, especially Singapore and Malaysia. These Chinese girls, in their teens and twenties, are usually found in larger cities in the region. They usually hang out in Bugis Junction, Bugis Street, outside Cineleisure. In Malaysia they are usually found around Sungai Wang Plaza, Low Yat Plaza ,SS2 and are regarded as bimbos, and are stereotyped as anti-intellectual, superficial, materialistic, and shallow.

Ah Lians are commonly stereotyped as having hair dyed in bright colours, and wearing outdated Japanese fashion, although how much of this is true is debatable. Most of them also like to wear hot pants or mini skirts. Most Ah Lians have straightened long hair, usually with thick fringes. They like walking in big groups where most of the people in the group are Ah Lians or Ah Bengs and make their presence known by talking loudly.

They enjoy taking self- portraits of themselves and usually imitate the way Japanese girls take their pictures, making their eyes look big and puffing out their cheeks. They also take pictures by putting a horizontal 'Peace sign' over their eyes, pressing a fist facing outwards against their puffed cheek. They also apply a very sharp tone in their speech which they classify as "cute". Another distinct feature of an Ah Lian is they swear in most of their conversations similarly to their male counterparts, Ah Bengs.

The Ah Lian "culture" is especially prevalent in the secular Chinese educational system schools. Ah Lians commonly speak a kind of hybrid mix of Singlish or Manglish and Chinese, or Chinese-related dialects. It is also common for the grammar from these dialects to cross over to English usage, creating English phrases with Chinese grammar.
Ah Lians are stereotyped as very loose, sleeping with anyone of any race, age, and social status.
---
Ah Beng is a stereotype applied to a certain of a group of young Chinese men in Southeast Asia, particularly Singapore and Malaysia. The stereotypical view of a Ah Beng is a young Chinese man or teenager, that lacks cultural refinement or indulges in criminal activity or is involved in brawls or arguments out of disagreements with other people. Ah Bengs are also sometimes associated with extensively-modified or zhng-ed cars, and are stereotypically seen as excessively flashy and show-offish.
Ah Bengs are often stereotyped as trying to emulate Japanese street fashion. Ah Bengs are normally Chinese men in their early teens to late 20s, seen hanging out in groups and typically speaking in local slang, which is Hokkien or Cantonese mixed with English and Malay, such as Manglish or Singlish. Their English level is limited to simple English words and incorrect grammar. When having a conversation, Ah Bengs like to curse in their daily speech.

Ah Bengs' fashion come in several stereotypes. One stereotype perceives Ah Bengs wearing flamboyant shirts, for example, with colorful decorations especially dragons, tight jeans and always carrying plastic combs. Another stereotype perceives Ah Bengs trying to follow Japanese fashion, with spiked and dyed hair, metallic ornaments, leather jackets, belts and pants.

Ah Bengs are normally found gathering in the busier and more developed cities in the region. Ah Bengs normally comes from Chinese villages or Chinese dominated communities in cities. Ah Bengs typically come from lower class or middle class families.

Elton meets Take That + Billboard News

Top 6 Performances:
Joe McElderry – Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word

This is the first Joe performance that gave me the chills. Yes, that is what I call personality and versatility. Finally, some genuine conviction! Very good. Brilliant. Yes, oh my god, the judges think so too YAY! I’m a Joe fan on this number.
Danyl Johnson – Your Song
I always feel that his pitch quavers like mad at the low notes. His performances today very high budget: Choirs (though they must Walsh for snubbing them. Simon is HILARIOUS!), steps, dancers... not bad. He gets a standing ovation from the judges though. Yep, it brought back memories of his first audition. Good!

Stacey Solomon – Rule The World
She really looked like she ruled the world with that backdrop during the performance. I always cringe when she gives those scrunched up expressions as the judges give their comments. Not fierce.
Olly Murs – Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting
EH....why all the stupid sexy girls in the background again! He’s going to receive less votes because of this, and it’s going to be their fault if he ends up in the bottom 2 again! It was vocally very good, and he seems like he was having so much fun! Yeah...knockout performance!

Danyl Johnson – Relight My Fire
What in the world is he wearing? Nevertheless, a great performance, he finally has backup dancers. Great movement around the stage, strong vocals, well done.
Olly Murs – Love Ain’t Here Anymore
Unlike Danyl, he didn’t sulk and pout and give a frown after landing himself in the bottom 2. Instead, he delivered a ballad which showed his emotional side, and it really paid off!

7th-10th:
Joe McElderry – Could It Be Magic
He’s like a machine – vocally impeccable, but almost emotionless. I cannot picture him in the final, AHHH. I’m like in my own world when it comes to Joe. Hoho, Brian Friedman and the dancers get credit for the choreography now. It’ll be so disappointing for me if he wins.
Stacey Solomon – The Way You Look Tonight
Good, though I don’t really have much to say. I got a slight feeling she’ll be in the bottom 2. YES, SIMON HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD. They should STOP trying to package her as the next Leona or Alexandra, it’s not working! Let her do her unique style that she has demonstrated in songs like ‘The Scientist’!
Lloyd Daniels – A Million Love Songs
It was good, but got a little too boring as we approached the end. He loses round 1.
Lloyd Daniels – I’m Still Standing
HAHA what an apt song title! Seriously, wrong song to sing: People will remember the title, make a mockery out of his presence in the Final Five, and he’ll be sent home. Sadness. (Haha, ok Louis and Simon said the same thing. He obviously wants Lloyd out. Goodbye Lloyd.) He loses round 2 too.

I’m predicting a Lloyd-Stacey bottom 2, with Lloyd going home (Please let it be.) I don’t think Olly will end up in the bottom 2 for a consecutive week, though it'll be a toss-up between him and Stacey for 4th place this week. Joe’s 2nd performance was annoyingly good, so I really don't foresee his departure tomorrow. Damn.
---
I’m just amazed by album sales this week. To hell with this Christmas season, it’s ruining everyone’s well-deserved Billboard positions.

Rubbish Christmas album debuts:
Andrea Bocelli: My Christmas - #2
Taylor Swift: Sounds of the Season - #20

Other album debuts:
John Mayer: Battle Studies - #1
Norah Jones: The Fall - #3
Casting Crowns: Until the Whole World Hears - #4
Justin Bieber: My World - #6
Kris Allen: Kris Allen - #11
Leona Lewis: Echo - #13
OneRepublic: Waking Up - #21
Janet Jackson: Number Ones - #22

Ok firstly, who in the world is Casting Crowns? How could a band which I've never heard before in my life have 2 albums in the Top 10? Secondly, why are artistes like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift (Fearless is still at #10 on Billboard 200 after 100000 weeks) dominating the music scene? They are young teenyboppers who don’t really have much talent other than a pretty face and a brimming sense of maturity (pardon the sarcasm), YET we see them selling more albums than established and respectable artists like Leona, OneRepublic and Janet. It’s absolutely disturbing.

It was even more disturbing reading the Life! Segment comparing Kris and Adam’s album yesterday. Babes Conde said Kris’ album was more original. I almost died of laughter when I saw her last sentence.

Top 12 Performs

This was one of the strongest weeks I've watched in all 6 seasons. Here are my personal top 8 performances of the 12, beginning from the best.

Ashleigh and Jakob [Lyrical Jazz: ‘Time Flies’ by Lykke Li]
Noelle and Russell [Contemporary: ‘A Case of You’ – Diana Krall]

Ashleigh and Jakob [Cha-cha: ‘Cha Cha Heels’ by Rosabel feat. Jeanie Tracy]
Kathryn and Legacy [Jazz: ‘So Deep’ – by Hot Chip]

Ellenore and Ryan [Broadway: ‘Razzle Dazzle’ from Chicago]
Ellenore and Ryan [Lindy Hop: ‘I’ve Got To Be A Rug Cutter’ by The Boilermaker Jazz Band]

Karen and Victor [Tango: ‘Montserrat’ from Orquesta del Plata]
Kathryn and Legacy [Viennese Waltz: ‘Your Guardian Angel’ by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus]

The other four performances:

Karen and Victor [Hip-hop: ‘Moving Mountains’ by Usher]
Mollee and Nathan [Hip-hop: ‘Ring-a-Ling’ by Black Eyed Peas]

AMAs 2009

Yes, Kanye, I know how you feel now, looking at the number of awards Taylor Swift is undeservedly sweeping. I hate that surprised look on her face whenever she wins an award too. I do not, in any way, think she is more original than any of the artists in the Artist of the Year category, but hey, she won. We just got to accept that pretty 10 year-olds who can't really hold a tune can still achieve much success in the US music industry, while people like Lady GaGa, who have made waves in 2009, did not receive one single award. Now tell me how is that justified.
---

The Better Performances: [sorry guys, the links got removed on Youtube]
Rihanna – Wait Your Turn / Hard
Lady GaGa – Bad Romance / Speechless
Janet Jackson – Medley
Black Eyed Peas – Meet Me Halfway / Boom Boom Pow

Other performances:
Adam Lambert certainly provided some provocative entertainment. I found it quite disappointing. Trying to make too much of a statement there.
Whitney certainly doesn’t know her own strength, because she was way over the top, but it was still delivered well compared to some of the lacklustre performances tonight.

Carrie’s backup dancers stole the show for her performance of ‘Cowboy Casanova’. There was just too much going on. Carol Hannah (left, 2nd runner-up on Project Runway 6) must have been really happy though. "Carrie wore my dress!"
Shakira didn’t produce any weird contortionist movements
Kelly Clarkson performs the only beltable song of her album, again.

Videos you could give a miss:
Jennifer Lopez proves her irrelevance in the music industry with her number ‘Louboutins’. What in the world is Louboutins?
Daughtry bores the crowd with his single ‘Life After You’
Alicia Keys and Jay-Z does ‘Empire State of Mind’ AGAIN. This song has no tune, the chorus is pathetic, everything about it sucks. If there is one song that can stop me from loving New York, this is the very song. Ironic. You could give the other Alicia Key’s performance a miss too.

List of winners for the more important awards:
Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group - The Black Eyed Peas
Favorite Country Band/Duo/Group - Rascal Flatts
Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist - Taylor Swift
Favorite Alternative Artist - Green Day
Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist - Michael Jackson
Favorite Country Male Artist - Keith Urban
Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist - Beyonce
Breakthrough Artist Award - Gloriana [This thing won Lady GaGa]
International Artist Of The Year - Whitney Houston
Favorite Country Female Artist - Taylor Swift
Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist - Michael Jackson
Favorite Hip Hop Male Artist - Jay-Z
Favorite Artist Of The Year - Taylor Swift

WHAT IN THE WORLD.

Sorry I can't contain my excitement.

"I'm going to have to judge it as I've judged it the whole time. On the premise that it's a singing competition, I will have to send home John and Edward." - Dannii Minogue

Dannii Minogue is the most kick-ass judge. She knows how to make up her mind, she stands by her own values, she's absolutely impartial, and she knows the integrity of X Factor would just crumble had she sent it into a deadlock. Kudos to Dannii, she is so loved right now by the whole of UK.

It was nice to see Olly in the bottom 2. I mean, I really want him to win the whole thing, but his previous two performances have been so lacklustre compared to his audition pieces preliminaries! Nevertheless, he'll just go up from this point on, and he better put up a good showdown with Danyl (preferably) or Stacey in the final.

Also, Lloyd wasn't in the bottom 2 because he was really good, and I believed it so (read my earlier post). So, Louis Walsh was being a bitch when he gave that comment in the elimination video. This is the classic example of a bad judge.

The only week which I think Jedward sucks, is the very week they get their butts whipped. It was a timely elimination; Had they advanced anywhere beyond the Final 6, they would have definitely lost much of their popularity.

22 November 2009

I've Got Soul But I'm Not A Soldier.

Somebody Told Me,
That When You Were Young in Sam's Town,
You dreamt of becoming a Spaceman (For Reasons Unknown).
You said: "Everything Will Be Alright, and I'd Smile Like I Meant It."

It's good to think like
Mr. Brightside,
After all, This Is Your Life, make it a Joy Ride.
When you start Losing Touch,
You question: Are we Human? Was everything just Shadowplay?
All These Things That I've Done,
Are they any unlike the Bones we find in those Dustland Fairytales?

Yet, in this Day and Age, in The World We Live In,
we don't wanna bite the Sawdust, we don't wanna make a Hot Fuss.
If you could Read My Mind,
I hope that would Change Your Mind.

Watch The Killers take the stage,
as they rock the house down, 24 January 2010.
Goodnight, Travel Well,
I hope to see you for that Midnight Show.
[screw, this isn't intended to be taken seriously.]
[Latest: 23/11/2009 09:06: I JUST BOUGHT THE KILLERS' TICKETS!]

Wham (George Michael Week)

This is by far the crappiest theme of the entire season. George Michael... what? Relevance to the world we’re living in now? Danyl, Jedward, Olly all fell beneath my expectations; Stacey and Joe maintained their excellence (though slight disputes about the latter’s grand scheme of work). The one person who impressed me today was Lloyd.

Stacey Solomon – I Can’t Make You Love Me
I get very distracted by her diva glittery microphone! Her stability in holding those high notes have improved much, but I always feel as though her eye contact gets lost midway through the performance. Very good though. [She has this very funny face when she starts smiling and being humble.]
Lloyd Daniels – Faith
Mr Daniels looks fine today! He looks much more refined with that hairdo. Unlike in his past performances, the voice felt much cleaner and slicker. Apt song choice, delivered it well – well done!

Joe McElderry – Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me
0:47-0:49, exact expression I was feeling. It was decent, but it leaves you nodding by the end of it – blah. He does everything well (you can tick everything off the checklist), but he delivers song after song so mechanically and technically. I just can’t lay my finger on him. If he wins this, he’s going to do terrible on Billboard. He might not even reach #200.
Olly Murs – Fastlove
He can be described as an improved version of Jedward – more restrained, and injects humour (hip gyration much) while still staying in tune. I wished Simon would get rid of all those random chereo moments in between when it’s not necessary! Olly definitely generates mass appeal. I’m still supporting him all the way, though he needs to deliver better songs.

Danyl Johnson – Careless Whisper
His contact with the camera is insane – you just get drawn into those eyes. Definietly a better rendition of this song, though I some parts came off as a little too hard and forceful. Now, maybe the producers could do something about Danyl’s stagings instead of building all those crap for John and Edward. Some outright display of biasedness.
John And Edward – I’m Your Man
Look at Simon’s expression at 1:31. Not raving about them today, everything was just a little overkill, like what Simon said – choreography, rapping, singing, running up and down, new clothes, elaborate staging. They’re most likely leaving either this week or next week, from what I observed from the judges’ comments.

Please please, let it be Danyl and Jedward in the bottom 2. Jedward’s tiring me out, and the judges will definitely not save them should there be such an outcome.

Winners

Project Runway 6: Irina Shabeyeva
America's Next Top Model Cycle 13: Nicole Fox
Both are not the most popular (one being bitchy and another being unsociable), but they are very very deserving because they have great talent in their own fields.

20 November 2009

New Music Videos (If You Haven't Caught Them)

Allison Iraheta – Friday I’ll Be Over U
Kris Allen – Live Like We’re Dying

Adam Lambert – Time For Miracles
Leona Lewis – Happy

OneRepublic – All The Right Moves
Norah Jones – Chasing Pirates

John Mayer – Who Says

19 November 2009

Geog is OVER!

1st: Ellenore and Ryan – Contemporary ("Your Ex-Lover Is Dead"—Stars. Travis Wall is just plain love. A fantastic performance.)
2nd: Kathryn and Victor – Paso Doble ("Pursuit" from Cirque du Soleil)
If he’s an admiral, I know a lot of people who would want to sign up for that navy. LOL.

3rd: Ashleigh and Jakob – Hip-Hop ("Whatcha Say"—Jason Derülo)
4th: Noelle and Russell – Foxtrot ("Baby (You've Got What It Takes)"—Michael Bublé and Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings)

Channing and Victor’s performance was good, but I hated the song so not embedding.
Mollee and Nathan’s choreography is the most wtf chereo ever. How could that woman do such injustice to Bad Romance? They should kick her out of the chereo panel for the betterment of mankind.
Karen and Kevin were just bad.

Kevin and Channing were eliminated.
It’ll be a tough elimination from next week onwards!
---
I was watching the results show for SYTYCD just now, and I saw this guy amongst the audience who looked really retarded. So I read the youtube comments and it’s actually an Observer from the show FRINGE. There’s this whole thing about this Fringe Observer appearing everywhere on the Fox TV shows, so I did some research and OMG there is a whole slew of videos! Watch it and you’ll get what I mean.

Yahoo I'm part re-tar-ar-ar-ard.

Before you start doing anything, watch this. Just when you thought Benny Lava and Girly Man were funny enough. LOL.

In billboard news...
Billboard 200: Carrie debuts at #1. Weezer at #7, Foo Fighter's Greatest Hits at #11, Amerie at #46 (tragic).
Hot 100: Party In The USA #6, Paparazzi #7, 3 #8, Russian Roulette #9 (Go catch the
video it's brilliant though the song still isn't doing anything for me), Sweet Dreams #10

In album news...
Have been listening to all the latest albums, and starting from my favourite, they are as follows:

  • Adam Lambert – For Your Entertainment (Brilliant, look at all the people he worked with. We FINALLY have an accomplished male white artist after years of sad sad male artiste songs.)
  • Leona Lewis - Echo (her 2nd single is ‘Outta My Head’. She finally does up-tempo songs YAY!)
  • Lady GaGa – Fame Monster (Alejandro, Speechless, Dance In The Dark – Great tracks)
  • John Mayer - Battle Studies (How can someone so accomplished do a collaboration with Taylor Swift? Ask John Mayer.)
  • OneRepublic - Waking Up (Ryan Tedder’s better at writing songs for other people.)
  • Kris Allen - Gonna take a listen to Kris Allen’s album later! Heard he's only going to sell 65-70k copies in his debut week - The worst of any Idol winner since Jordin.

In other news...

2 MORE FREAKING PAPERS YES!

You Are Not Alone.

Singapore Idol, this is what I call a kickass music video. Try coming up with something of this quality before I begin to watch your show again.

[P.S They are showing Danyl such favouritism, it's piercing LOL. Who cares, I don't mind him winning either way.]

15 November 2009

QUEEN STACEY’s week

In order of preference this week:

Stacey Solomon – Who Wants To Live Forever
It was great to hear a female voice amidst all the testosterone. She just sang the phrase ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’ for like a million times, but that was executed lovely. So much conviction! Dannii took a stab at Jedward, haha (“We’re not judging in your own world, in any other world, but you’re in a singing competition, and you deserve to be here.”)

Danyl Johnson – We Are The Champions
He has the tendency to quaver for every single note, but I take that as his distinctive trait. He keeps rubbing his head whenever Cheryl starts commenting on his looks. One of those better ‘WATC’ renditions, but it wasn’t mind-blowing good.
John and Edward – Under Pressure
Damn bloody smart song choice – Under Pressure sprinkled with Ice Ice Babies all over. You could tell they wanted to stay in the competition, and they certainly entertained the crowd. Best performance. I enjoyed it. What a sin HAHA. Who knows, they might be eliminated they week they ace it.

Joe McElderry – Somebody To Love
Everyone’s vocal ranges seem to be narrowed this week, but I must say his expanded for sure. For once, I didn’t find his voice annoying.
Lloyd Daniels – Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Oh my god, look at how he abruptly ended. Lightening up certainly works for him – his newfound charisma allowed him to work the stage really well. LOVED the clothes. As much as he’s plateau-ing (a stupid term SgIdol judges coined), I got a nasty feeling he’s going to be safe either way.

Olly Murs – Don’t Stop Me Now
I can’t decide whether I liked it or not! Mr. Robbie Williams II was very entertaining, but the song didn’t offer him anything. I absolutely LOVED the Fred Perry shirt though. Worried for him, what if he lands up in the bottom two AHH.
Jamie Archer – Radio Ga Ga
I have never ever heard of this song. It’s great that he was such a crowd pleaser, but I zoned out. Please put him in the bottom two. I’m sick of him already.

13 November 2009

SPOILER: Nicole and Laura battle it out for the petite crown

So not effective right my spoiler heading. HAHAHA.

Quite peeved with Jen not making it into the final two. She totally deserved it; Laura took up the spot narrowly. Whatever, Nicole's going to win it either way. She'll only lose if it comes down to their krumping abilities.

12 November 2009

The better half of the performances

Ashleigh and Jakob – Jazz (‘Relax’ by Frankie goes to Hollywood!)
Noelle and Russell – Afrojazz

Kathryn and Legacy – Broadway
Channing and Victor - Contemporary

On a sidenote, THE KILLERS are coming on 24th January 2010!

11 November 2009

Those brainless teens in the crowd annoy me.

I am not watching Singapore Idol anymore.
To eliminate Duane on the very week he out-entertained and outperformed everyone was just a very bad call.
Let Faisal win this whole thing, I don't give a hoot.

09 November 2009

Lucie gets the boot.

Oh well, Lucie, that's for singing a Demi Lovato song. But it's pretty incredulous for Simon to send it to a deadlock. Now Stacey is the only female contestant. HAHAHA. Louis Walsh got it all wrong.

08 November 2009

Songs from Movie OSTs

In order of preference...

Danyl Johnson – ‘Purple Rain’
Mr Danew Jonssen sounded so much better this week. He looks so much more charming with his new hairdo! The sparkle is back – he’s smiling! YAYYY! I want to give him the hot Tamali train.
Olly Murs – ‘Twist And Shout’
SUCH AN OLLY SONG! HAHAHAHA! He exuded the appropriate dose of fun, humour, confidence... loved it! I thoroughly enjoyed the whole staging, loved the choreography. He didn’t deserve the criticisms made by Louis and Dannii. The song wasn’t silly, it was Olly! Louis Walsh is rubbish – he’d rather criticize Olly for not displaying his vocal prowess than work on his crappy duo’s singing techniques.

Jamie Archer – ‘Crying’

I like vulnerable Jamie more. Liked the song. Carrie Underwood did a version of this song before. Went to hear it again, and I liked Jamie’s better still.
John and Edward – ‘Ghostbusters’
Just look at how much the producers have put into the freaking stage sets and costumes. The producers WANT them to win. Now, compare their budget to Danyl’s simplistic stage set. Loved the song though, brought back memories. They have been ranked #1 or #2 in terms of votes every single week, so wouldn’t be surprising if they succeed Alexandra’s throne. She’ll be laughing her ass off.

Lucie Jones – That Stupid Demi Lovato / Camp Rock Song
HAHA Cheryl Cole wasn’t familiar with the song choice at all. Bless you, Cheryl, because this song is hell annoying. Louis believes she’ll last longer than Stacey. We’ll see about that. I can’t believe she made the judges love her based on a crappy contemporary Disney song.
Joe McElderry – ‘Circle Of Life’
McElderry’s vocal quality’s like McFlurry – smooth and pleasant to hear/taste, but that’s pretty much it. Yes, he’s musical theatre, not pop star. I fully agree. He’s just here every week, someone put in the bottom 2 to stun him for once. I want to see how he fights back.

Lloyd Daniels – ‘Stand By Me’

Loid Dahnews chooses very clichéd songs. Last week he had random dancers during his performance, this time he has 6 male dancers being very extra as well. This song just slotted in so well into his vocal range - he even held a high note for a few seconds! (although he died for the next short note) See Cheryl, should’ve given this spot to the one and only Ethan Boroian. He looks good today though.
Stacey Solomon – ‘Son Of A Preacher Man’
Camille Velasco’s iconic song! Her vocal range, just like Lloyd’s, has a limit, and it’s very obvious when she hits those high notes. Stacey just smiles nonstop when the judges are giving comments – damn hard for judges to critique her. But Simon does it well. ‘It’s what Duffy and Amy would’ve done’, actually Dannii, we don’t need another of those. The weakest performance tonight.

Yes, I'm still updating.

Was alright with Irina and Carol Hannah making it to Fashion Week.

But Althea, like what? That golden crepe paper outfit was not hot at all. Gordana was definitely robbed of a spot. So, it's an all-female final once again. Chris and Logan were just not up to par.

07 November 2009

Who's Erik?

Meet Erik, first member of the jury. I'm amazed how one can be so full of himself having gotten majorly blindsided!!

06 November 2009

Barbie Toe.

Oh, please let Jennifer and Nicole be in the final two.
Sundai got booted. This is the first time in ANTM history (am I right?) that there are no blacks in the final four. Very interesting, Tyra isn't backing them as much this time 'round.

05 November 2009

A classic example of academic snobbery.

"Bah, I heard UCL econs worst out of UCL, LSE, Warwick"

Top 18 perform!

Kathryn and Legacy - "2 Steps Away" by Patti LaBelle - Contemporary
Legacy is a hip-hop dancer and yet he just owned this contemporary piece big time! This is my favourite couple!
Karen and Kevin - "Ice Cream Paint Job" by Dorrough – Hiphop
They went down and dirrrrty! Karen was absolutely fantastic. Found the moment when her ass was in Kevin’s face very interesting.

Mollee and Nathan – ‘"Azeem O Shann Shahenshah" from Jodhaa Akbar- Bollywood
Bollywood’s always good. Look at Nathan from 2:53-2:58. Oh my god, his pirouettes were crazy too, he stopped on one foot.
Ashleigh and Jakob – ‘At Last’ by Etta James – Viennese Waltz
OMG Adam Shankman just owned Tony and Meredith. Sadness!

Eliminated: Bianca (Tap Dancer #1) and Phillip (Tap Dancer #2)

02 November 2009

Poker Players go kapoot.

They switched their detours 3 times, failed to sound the dinger 71 times, were unsuccessful in putting the 1st hole after 17 tries. Gotta admire them for their perseverance. If only they had been less wishy-washy, I probably wouldn't need to hear anymore from that noisy Miss USA anymore!
Tiffany: “We don’t want to give up on the race, but we do not foresee that we will be able to finish this challenge with this weather. We are quitting the race and as a result understand that we will be eliminated.”

Lloyd, was that singing?

Great to see Danyl behaving normally again, though I'm absolutely disappointed with the results. Roar.

Rock Songs

Ok, was quite thankful Miss Frank didn’t take up a spot this week. They would’ve somewhat died for this week’s theme, I suppose. Cheryl’s clothes were hideous. (Just as I was about to put the links here, Youtube went down for maintenance. Thank god I just watched all the videos.)

Olly Murs – Come Together by The Beatles
YAY he aces this week again, and teases the viewers. Cheeky. Come on, be my next successful bet after Kris Allen.

Lucie Jones – Sweet Child O’ Mine by Guns N Roses
She looks different every week. A bit like Miley this week, which is disturbing (I don’t want her to be the next ‘Worst Celebrity Influence’) Cheryl and Simon praised Lucie by saying she could be the next ‘Avril Lavigne’. That’s not a praise by any standards AHH. Ok, teenage pop artist, that’s more like it.

Rachel Adedeji – One by U2
She’s belting really well lately, and she’s like super confident. Still can wink at camera please. Come on, now let her be the last female standing.

Stacey Solomon – Somewhere Only We Know by Keane
I like the keyboardist. I always love her male-indie song choices (‘The Scientist’). She performs at her peak with those songs, and certainly does it well again.

Joe McElderry – Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey
LOL, he tried his best to rock a song, without much success. However, I didn’t find him as annoying today, probably because there were too many lacklustre performances this week. He looked good too! He’s like releasing his personality bit by bit, week after week. Smart strategy. Squiggly and Diddly were hilarious.

Jamie Archer – Rocks by Primal Scream
I don’t particularly look forward to his performances. In fact, this was the 2nd last video I watched (Joe was the last. Olly’s was the first). Once again, an amazing performance, but I agree with Louis Walsh 100% - nothing original about him!!

J ohn and Edward – We Will Rock You by Queen
I enjoyed it. Entertaining, humorous, out-of-the-world. Keep them for a few more weeks.

Danyl Johnson - I Don’t want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith
Lyrics gone. Tune gone. Confidence (cockiness) gone. Fire gone. He’s gone. One bottom two was enough to kill Danyl, but two bottom twos weren’t enough to kill Rachel (Cheryl put it so well), and she came back stronger. Very annoyed with him at the moment! ARGH. Damn drama queen! He could’ve put on a smile after what Simon said.

Lloyd Daniels – I Kissed A Girl by Katy Perry
He has the least video views. Totally changed the girl (‘I hope her boyfriend don’t like it HAHAHA what in the world’). I preferred the backing vocals to be honest. Please don’t let him be another Eoghan Quigg. I’m starting to lose him..
