I do not hook up.

Uggs are hideous.

29 March 2009

Though I am not naturally honest, I am so sometimes by chance.

Most people came out of The Winter's Tale looking like that:Ok, not me. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It felt as though Othello and Iago melded into the lead character Leontes, while his chaste wife, Hermoine, who gets accused of adultery, is portrayed very similarly to Desdemona, just that the former gets revived while the latter enters purgatory by the end of the story.

Coldplay plays chess!

Bus uncle totally swerved left when he was supposed to go right. I was pretty amused by it, so I decided to take a photo. But Louis is very nice, he blurred both the bus number and the license plate, because he knows its tough out there, and oh well, even bus uncles do experience bad days.

Sizzling This Week (23th - 29th March 2009)

Love Sex Magic (Official Music Video) - CIARA feat JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE

1) Ciara feat. Justin Timberlake - Love Sex Magic
A great collaboration with a sexy music video. It's her second single in the US from her third studio album, Fantasy Ride.
2) Carrie Underwood - Home Sweet Home
The elimination song for the Idol castoffs this season. Originally performed by Mötley Crüe in 1985.
3) Gavin DeGraw - Stay
Going to be released as one of the singles in his upcoming album, Free. Still sticking to his roots with his piano!
4) Kelly Clarkson - Whyyouwannabringmedown
Kelly Clarkson rocks this number, which was performed by the original writer, Aranda, in September last year. Bubblegum punk, you call it?
5) Brooke White - Hold Up My Heart
It's a decent song. Piano and raw vocals. Sadly, the song debuted at #47 on the Hot 100 and dropped out of the charts a fortnight later.
6) Elliott Yamin - Fight For Love
Another first single from another American Idol alumnus. Not really feeling this one though, but still worth a listen.

LUMOS

Buy tickets from any Knights of Sowdenian now!!!

27 March 2009

America made the right decision today!

And I'll need to pack my room.

26 March 2009

If America can be a billion dollars in debt and still survive, then so can you.

COMMON TEST 1 IS OVER!
Math was surprisingly doable! Lit was doable too! In fact, I'm more confident for these papers compared to Geog and Econs, which makes me feel really uneasy. Can only pray for good results now! All the best to you Physics and Bio people, you all can start partying tomorrow too HAHA.

---
Went to catch 'Confessions Of A Shopaholic' right after Lit! It's like a combination of Sex and the City and Bridget Jones Diary. A timely reminder for Americans to start saving money during this economic crisis, before you find mannequins talking to you in Paragon. Great songs from the soundtrack include Lady Gaga's Fashion and Greg Laswell's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

Hugh Dancy pays $23 for hot dogs, and pays for Fisher's green scarf meant for her dying grandma. HAHA.
---
Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy) looked so familiar! And then I realized he actually models for Calvin Klein. Find this photo vaguely familiar?

He acts in Jane Austen Book Club too, no wonder.

---

  • Interesting! Both of Fletcher's poems that we did are in this forum.
  • Kelly Clarkson stays at the top of Billboard 200 for two consecutive weeks!
  • A 77-year-0ld Singaporean died of heart failure after his genital became stuck in a soft drink bottle.
  • In Idol news, it was Motown week. You thought nothing could be worse than Country week.
  • Aside from many mediocre performances (even Danny sucked today), Adam (looked like Link in Hairspray), Allison (though I way preferred David Hernandez's rendition last season - It was brilliant), Kris (once again, perfect, could see glimpses of Jason Mraz again) were fantastic.
  • Paula looks ridiculous sporting a moustache.

Using a lot of hyperlinks lately, very lazy to copy/paste them here, makes it look very cluttered.

25 March 2009

It sure makes everything seem so small.

Pete Wentz wrote on his twitter:
"In singapore. Our Landing cards say immediate execution for those carrying drugs. Lucky I left my 30 kilos and scales in london."

and Seacrest wrote this on his twitter:
"Also met this artist Utada [Hikaru] yesterday - shes new to US, but HUGE in Japan. Shes called the Japanese Madonna."

Council results out today, congratulations Jun Sean, Karishma, Lingmin and Neerajha! Rock it for BB07 ok!

Some really capable people were not even in the campaigning stage. Well, it doesn't pay to be honest. Shouldn't they be given a chance first? Instead, they get denied right at the get go. And it's not even certain whether they'll hold leadership positions in their CCAs. And it's not even certain those without commitments will give in their all. Disappointing, disappointing.

Geog was fine. Some of the questions were unexpectedly weird though. Didn't see them coming. Almost all I studied for Urban Geog went down the drain.
---
Tomorrow's the final stretch. Math and Lit, not hopeful for any at all. Let's aim for a pass and a C.

24 March 2009

I've got to Twitter about this.

HAHA. Loved how they gave voices to the birds. Twitter Twitter!
"Who are they talking to?"
"No one....and everyone!"
And if you have nothing better to do now, watch this. Trust me, you'll be enlightened.

23 March 2009

We live to deliver.

Changeling to a Weakling.

Oh no! What happened to Jolie?
Go find out for yourself.
GP went great. Had lots to talk about celebrities. Hope I didn't get too carried away though.

22 March 2009

The fun begins tomorrow!

Tests are so common.
That's why you have common test 1.
And common test 2.
and 3.
oh, there isn't common test 3.

20 March 2009

Sizzling This Week (16th - 22th Mar 2009)

1) Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero
2) Daniel Merriweather - Water and a Flame (feat. Adele)
3) U2 - Magnificent
4) Solange - Sandcastle Disco
5) Peaches - Talk To Me

God Bless America.

Pandemonium erupted outside of an "America's Next Top Model" casting call at CW Studios in midtown Saturday when an overheating car triggered a stampede of catwalk-craving cuties. Screaming as they ran for their lives, hundreds of hotties in heels toppled over barricades along W. 55th St. after several people in the crowd started yelling, "There's a bomb!"

Some China dude commented: 金融危机导致社会动乱,美国,你完蛋了! LOL.

Idols apart.

Both were American Idols in their respective seasons.
One, in fact, beat the likes of Chris Daughtry, Elliott Yamin, and Katherine McPhee to be crowned the winner of American Idol 2006.
But here's the thing:
  • Kelly Clarkson's 4th studio album, All I Ever Wanted, debuted on Billboard 200 at #1, selling 255,000 copies.
  • Taylor Hick's 2nd studio album, The Distance, debuted at #58, selling just 9,000 copies.
  • This means that Kelly sold approximately 28 times as much as Taylor in the first week of sales.

Taylor has faded into oblivion and redundancy in the world of music, I suppose. Kelly is of the contrary. After My December got severely criticized by the music industry and Clive Davis, she decided to come up with an industry-saving pop album and appeal to the American culture once again. And this time around, she's getting all she ever wanted. Or perhaps not. Who cares, she's doing just great now.

One of the sweetest stuff on Youtube I've come across.

Thought I'd share this with you guys. Such a sweet story.

18 March 2009

Grand Ole Opry.

Louis was extremely bored, so he decided to catch some performances from today's episode of 'Idol' on Youtube. Kris Allen & Matt Giraud delivered FANTASTIC performances once again!!!

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, and ideas are bulletproof.

"Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant and vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition! The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V."
The moment V (Hugo Weaving, better known as Agent Smith in The Matrix) said this to Evey (Natalie Portman, who shaved her head for this role), I knew V for Vendetta would be a great movie, so I decided to forego beauty sleep for this.
Everything was V. During his imprisonment at Larkhill, he was in cell number 'V'. The fireworks formed the letter V. He choose the fifth song on the jukebox while dancing with Evey. Even when he confronts the baddy in the latter's home, he plays Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, whose opening notes have this rhythmic pattern that resembles the letter 'V' in morse code. After he kills Creedy, the clock strikes 11:05, forming the letter V.

Ok, aside from the obsession of V, V for Vendetta was brilliant. Brought up some issues of dystopia, of V trying to effect a sociopolitical change on the world, and even more historical themes that I'm utterly amazed at now that I'm reading up about it on Wikipedia. The 1666 Fire Of London that destroyed The Old Bailey... the Guy Fawkes Night celebrated annually on the 5th November... the Gunpowder plot... the whole fascist government issue... how the totalitarian regimes attempt to brainwash everyone, (just like in Orwell's 1984: "Big Brother is watching you") through the mass surveillances, the curfews, the media propaganda. WOW.

Fun fact: The writer for V for Vendetta also wrote Watchmen and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Cool right! MUST WATCH MUST WATCH. Was thoroughly enthralled.

17 March 2009

I miss M2M, and Kris has an EP!

Instead of Joyly Shandy Chua, you have Marit Larsen, member of M2M, singing 'Lucky' with Jason Mraz in the Olympia, Paris leg of his tour. In fact, she's his support act in Europe for the entire leg. How infuriating. In all fairness, the Singapore singer did sing pretty ok, though you could tell from the video posted on youtube that she didn't really receive very positive comments. Poor girl.
---
Kris Allen actually has an album released some time ago! Album was titled "Brand New Shoes".

15 March 2009

Humanz goes Science.

Humanz 09 batch!Humanz 09/10 batch!
09A03A!
Whee! Cobalt had great fun on Friday. He was in his element, and so were The Pipettes & Mercury (who looked more like Blake Lively).
Along the way, he met some mad scientists and lab technicians, as well as gothic/geeky juniors who gave very interesting performances. He indulged in good food (Brownian motion, macromolecule structures, volcanic cake) and good fun (ie guitar hero)! He only wished he could've split into more cobalt atoms and watch Vocal Exploits!!
Never mind about that. Cobalt thinks Orchard Scotts is extremely chic.
----
I've stopped watching this season's The Amazing Race, because the remaining contestants are terrible. And apparently, CBS has this Survivor:Ponderosa-like version for TAR too, so that's pretty nice because all my favorite teams are now there. So that provides me with the weekly dose of TAR instead.

Sizzling This Week (9th - 15th March 2009)

If U Seek Amy, the 3rd single from Britney's Circus, has peaked at #53 on the Billboard Hot 100. Click here if you haven't watch her booby booboo made during her "I'm A Slave 4 U" performance at Tampa's Live Tour. Both the videos of You Want History & No You Girls - latest singles from Off With Their Heads & Tonight: Franz Ferdinand respectively - were premiered on Friday March 13th. Dreamworld is a new track from the deluxe edition of his 4th studio album, Something Else.

11 March 2009

You hit notes I didn't even know existed.

Outstanding performances for 'Michael Jackson' week:
Kris Allen - Remember The Time, Alexis Grace - Dirty Diana, Adam Lambert - Black Or White

Kris was fantastic with the guitar and there was moments of Jason Mraz in it, Alexis managed to belt out so well and command such a stage presence despite her petite size, and Adam was simply phenomenal - a force to be reckoned with.

Predicted bottom three: Anoop Desai, Jorge Nunez, Megan Joy Corkrey
Apparently, producers of Idol are changing the elimination format. America gets to choose the bottom 3 contestants as usual through voting, but the judges will decide who will be sent home, instead of America sending the person with the lowest-number of votes home (ie You may have received the 3rd lowest amount of votes but may still be sent off because you simply suck and the judges cannot afford to let loose of great contestants who happened to receive very little votes that week)

Idol Top 13 Finalists Revealed!

Before that...Some photos taken yesterday!

Didn't capture a lot of photos, but do have some of the 'Live' footage from Jason Mraz's concert! He was absolutely brilliant, performing songs from his new album 'We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things' such 'A Beautiful Mess', 'Butterfly', 'I'm Yours', 'Live High', 'Only Human', 'The Dynamo Of Volition', and of course, 'Lucky', which he collaborated with Joy Chua and thus stirred a major uproar amongst fans. She made things worse by voluntarily hugging him. Of course, he did some of his very popular hits like 'The Remedy (I Won't Worry)", "Geek In The Pink", "You And I Both" and lots more. And Arina managed to take a picture with him the next morning at Changi Airport. What the hell. I saw it, it's real omg.
