How do you describe a school day without exams? (though there were some nervewrecking moments where it seemed as though I'd be getting back my test scripts when I'm not, but ended up watching some video about a conspiracy theory about 911 bombings, which was highly fascinating and enlightening)
How do you describe a day with BBHouseD? (imagine locking wangye and sadikin, the two ex-birthday boys, in the council room, tasking them to find 10 green apples in the room before they could get out, but were softened by their futile attempts at finding it, and instead went into the room and got ourselves locked by them. I loved the meeting today, and of course, I LOVED DINNER TODAY TOO.)
Ok, other than that, I think my typing speed's gonna blast till 200wpm because I'm basically typing stuff for EVERY SINGLE FUNCTION/DEPARTMENT. [I should be like Secretary of the Millenium] This week is Lit week, so fun!
I shall be hardworking and do my Maths Tutorial, Reading Heart of Darkness (haha i bought it today), Doing my minutes diligently, and of course, not wasting time, other than blogging of course.

Channel 5's currently airing season 3. I'm watching season 4. Two great performances featuring contemporary songs.
No Air - Katee and Joshua
These two couples are currently the frontrunners too.

ok EXAMS ARE OVER AND I'M VERY HAPPY.
but i realized, if promos are beginning in T4W1, that essentially leaves us with 72 days to study. and that is ridiculous considering it's 85%? Whatever results that come out for CTs, i don't really care anymore because it's a) Only 15%, b) it's the first time i took a Lit test, and c) I didn't prepare adequately. LOL call those excuses, but...it's true!
Moving on, I'm very delighted that there's a possibility of A03A going to St James Power Station for our Learning Journeys. And the alternative would be St. Regis Hotel. How much better can life be to A03A? =D
Ok, going out soon. Mind Cafe.

Updated (25.06.08) - Ok, this is just a post to say I've done OK for Econs, done better than expected (meaning i'll get higher than 50% probably) for Geog, and screwed Maths up (25%?). I think without A03A's concern, I'd have died of post-math-test disorder. Lit's tomorrow, hope I don't get my usual Cs and Ds like those in my essay assignments. Something higher would suffice.
thanks guys. =)
Ok, and now, the much awaited photos for my OM trip. Looking back, I think the holidays would have been the worst in my life without OM. It'd be just so freaking boring because there's pretty much nothing to do besides reading notes and cramming as much info as possible for CTs.
Knowing that attempts to study now are pretty futile, I told myself I'M GOING TO UPLOAD PHOTOS INSTEAD.
I'm categorizing all my photos in alphabetical order, meaning I'll start off with "Airport" and end with something like 'Zimbabwe's corrupted President".
So, we survived (12+6+2) X 2 = 40 hours of flight.
Yes, we travelled from Singapore to Narita (couldn't buy anything because I brought no YEN. Only YEN can.) to Detroit to Baltimore, and came back from Minneapolis to Detroit to Narita to Singapore. I still remember having severe jet lags when I came back home.
Watched a lot of movies. (inc. Juno, The Other Boelyn Girl, 27 Dresses, Jumper) At least the movies redeemed the lacklustre service onboard XXX airlines.
Artistic Shots (from my POV)
Trying to find the Hearts N' Liver in Hudson River after that very bad murderer killed himself here.
Any picture with flowers looks nice.
See, told you flowers looked nice. And that's Olly behaving gothically.
damn, I forgot the name of this bridge.
Billboards, Boards and Broadway
Oh yes, so obviously, when I reached Times Square, I was telling myself "You're kidding me, like I'm in TIMES SQUARE? OMG? Like you mean I get to see all the angmohs?"
Here's what I saw: Whitney the fat ANTM winner, posters of Coldplay, Ashanti, Usher, Lil' Wayne (ew. can't believe he sold 1 million copies in a week), BIG BIG BROADWAY MUSICAL posters, neon lights everywhere,
overtowering skyscrapers, and millions of people. The claustrophobia resembled an MRT train.
Oh yeah, movie promotional posters too. Kung Fu Panda, the Zohan thing, Love Guru, Sex and the City, and of course, Adventures with Dora and Diego (whose eyes and nose I manhandled)
How can you say you've been to New York if you haven't watched a BROADWAY MUSICAL!
Ok, so we decided to catch Chicago, (After kuoying told me how fabulous Hairspray was.. DAMMIT.) and it was GREAT. Although it cost like US$80, who cares. The show was great, chereography was sassy,
actors/actresses were brilliant, songs were nice (I had goosebumps when the fat momma sang). I loved the 'HE HAD IT COMING. HE HAD IT COMING' song.
To be continued...
This is it. Baby of the Year. She was smiling really brightly when she saw us, I think most of us were pretty tempted to adopt her like on the spot. AHHH.
I'm just uploading the cooler buildings which are either more well-known or have an architecturally intricate design. There were shots of almost every building we saw in our photo collection.
I love the Empire State Building (apparently its under construction works now; They put up this huge banner Empire State REBUILDING. hilarious.) We didn't get to see the Statue of Liberty upclose and personal, because our tour agency was quite poopy. It was some US-based china company which I'm absolutely not impressed with; neither am I very impressed with a tour guide who goes by the pseudonym KING KONG, and has tendencies of molesting little kids.
This was the campus bus we took from the airport to the campus. All the bus rides within the campus vicinity was FOC.
As we awaited for our teacher-in-charge Mr Tan to register our team, some of us started mugging (not me obviously; I was eating cuttlefish), while the ACS peeps in pink (nice shirts!) were having fun.
Ok, it seems a little inauspicious to begin our US trip visiting a cemetary (Arlington National Cemetary) with our buddy team (Traverse West Senior High School ).
It got rather spooky when this ominous bank of dark clouds started hovering over us as we watched some guards on duty having some ceremony. And of course, the inevitable torrential downpour arrived. Ahh, my clothes. Well, it was still a memorable experience. It was also a good break from all the camwhoring.
To be continued...
Closing Ceremony + Teen Party
There's a closing ceremony to every major event/competition. This wasn't an exception.
Little did I know so many millions of people were involved in OM. Thinking about it, an estimated 7 to 10 thousand people were involved, including coaches, judges, teams..
OM is indeed phenomenal. More importantly, I guess it was meeting the people from all over the world that made it so surreal. The atmosphere was high, and people were trading their State/National shirts with others, just like what the four peeps have done above. They traded the rather ugly Singapore shirt for these lovely wizard hats, which I think they got from the Pennsylvanians.
I and Zhiwei, however, chose to be loyal and patriotic, and for remembrance' sake, we kept our Singapore shirts.
The Teen Party was rather fierce. I knew something like was coming. Raunchy groping, booty shaking, dirty dancing, almost everything happened then. It was quite shady (Chilli was telling me some guy had like two big holes on his forearm, implying that he injected drugs in himself before ahh.) Being my conservative self, I decided to just keep it low. Oh, and this is the place where I heard 'Damaged' by Danity Kane, and I realized that ok, they still have some value.
Oh, and as you might observe, we were all a little wet & drenched, because we had to take a walk a distance to the bus stop which ferried us to Adele Stamp Union (the place where we danced) from the Closing Ceremony venue. And it was raining like MAD. No shelters, no umbrellas, so we just died in the rain. Not to mention the bus was freaking crowded.
Dorms played an integral part during our stay there. Ok, this is how small and lousy the dorms were, though Michelle said its one of the better ones around already. We sew my clothes in the dorm, we sleep in the dorm, we count money in the dorm, we mug in the dorm (ok maybe only Yuzhou), and we talk nonsense and do very quirky stuff in the dorms.
Foodwise, the food provided in campus were surprisingly delicious. They served huge portions of scrambled eggs, maryland chicken, potato wedges and we could help ourselves with the drinks and cereals and salad and JELL-O! (yumyum) The cups were so cute-looking Zhiwei brought some to New York.
Well, the mascot for the University of Maryland is a turtle, which I think no school in Singapore in their right mind would have that animal as a mascot, knowing the inherent negative connotations it brings about. (slow, retarded, stupid) But hey, I think it's quite adorable. And their motto (do you call it a motto?) is: FEAR THE TURTLE.
The provided meals outside campus were disappointing, because we had boring Chinese food that effectively deprived us of savouring any nice local delicacies. On many occasions, we gave the meals a pass and decided to have meals on our own instead. Customers 1 : Tour Agency 0.
Yeah, Finest Chinese Cuisine.
I rather have my Wendy's Quarter Pounder and my Meatboll sandwitch. (oh my OMers, I still vividly remember that Korean lady)
Ok, not ALL of these monuments here are depicting George Washington. I took the benefit of the doubt of all the pictures and assumed them to be so, since they're all black in colour and have puffy hair protuding sideways.
Yay, GROUP PHOTO (Without Chilli plus Jiayi, Olly's friend and an ACS(I) World Finalist)
