27 April 2008Week 17 (21st April - 27th April 2008)1) Bye Bye - Mariah Carey 26 April 2008starry silvery night.Louis' psuedo-iPhone: Dies on 26th April 2008, 1045am. Cause of death: Infiltration of silver aluminium paint into phone. Reasons why Louis went 'argh': He fears all his contacts might be gone, and he fears all his inbox messages (1300+) might be gone. Well, at least it died in silver glamour. It pressed on a while after it got splashed with paint, but the monitor light starting flickering incessantly, and i couldn't press my keypad anymore. Death partner: Quiksilver Wallet. Cause of death: Also infiltration of silver aluminium paint Reasons why Louis went 'argh': He had slimy $10 notes, a slimy Jazz under the Stars ticket, and some soggy coins. He fears his ATM and ez-link card might not work Ahh well, never mind, i'll get a new phone and (hopefully) a new wallet, because it had many holes after it was rinsed with thinner. Moral of the story: (for victim) Don't put your valuables on the floor when you are doing paintwork. (for murderer) Look where you're walking. Ok, those were some pictures taken before I witness some gruesome deaths. We are 3/4 completed with our house banner, adding some silvery touches to it! MR peeps were also down at council canteen preparing for house day, and Blue's Clues are their theme, thats why you can see the Blue's Clues dog! BUT nevertheless, DO COME DOWN FOR GREEN DAY ON 30th APRIL, WEDNESDAY! We will reveal the J1 BB Photoboard, have a BB toast (all the drinks are green), a PINATA WHACKING session (yes there's sweets in it!) and games and fun activities for all BB'ians to take part in!!! Don't miss this great event!! Get your OG mates to come down and it's also a good time to catch up on times! Ok, more group shots! (and the person doing the victory sign isn't me or karliang, it's WANGYE'S -.- eh i just wanted to use an excuse to bring in my next point LOL but i sincerely thought it was mingzhe but never mind LOL. ok i think i rmber u taking the photo now. oh yeah, correct.) Oh yes, which brings me to congratulating ALL successfully elected members of the EXCO! WELL DONE! President of 28th Student's Council: Ong Yan Han! Vice Presidents: Paul Tern, Jonathan Lim BB House Captain: Natalie Ong BW House Captain: Grace Zhang HH House Captain: Leonard Lee MR House Captain: Cai Mingzhe MT House Captain: Stanley Seow Ok, after painting the banner, we went to go for Green Day Shopping, getting drinks and sweets, and then da-baoing for MR people and ourselves to bring back to school to eat, where some went to watch the soccer match. Haha, somehow now I seem to be very in touch with match scorelines of RJ games =D The remaining few at council canteen couldn't stand the silence and boringness, and it was timely that Jonathan passed by and told us that HODGE LODGE WAS OPEN! So, as guinea pigs, we decided to check it out! And OMG, the students' lounge is just so FABULOUS. There are like super comfy orange and red chairs, a stage platform to like sing whatever you want, a mini-cinema for movie screenings, and MOST IMPORANTLY, the Nintendo Wii and XBox GAMES ROOM!!!! The few of us spent over 2-3 hours swinging our Wiis to play Tennis (it was fun to watch Nat play LOL), Golf and Bowling (Wangye and i somewhat died playing these), Boxing (the most tiring one but most thrilling), and some other mini-games in another CD which was very addictive HAHA. I think, if i visit the students' lounge everyday, i'll end up heading to the games room. so i shall attempt to forbid myself to enter the lounge LOL. was so caught up in the game i didn't know it was like 645pm! And Jazz started already! So i decided to not go home for dinner and support jiajun, who managed to get me to buy her ticket hawhaw! Stayed throughout the concert because the picture above these words also went, as well as chorale peeps and many others heehee. well done JJ, jiawei, shuyu, quynh anh, jorel, samantha, geoffrey and everyone else la! can't really think now, brain cells not working at 12am. initially thought performing at watermelon steps was such a weird idea, but it sort of worked LOL. [Thanks Amy for the lift!] OK, TATA, I SHALL GO SLEEP NOW AND PRAY I CAN GET A PHONE BY TOMORROW. WHEE~~~ 25 April 2008One rock and roll, too many.Ok, shall let the pictures speak for themselves. Top row shows more and more people crashing the photo. Bottom row consists of a variety of canteen drinks (papaya juice, orange/apple juice, soyabean, teh bing, chin chow) and yanhan pointing to her campaign banner! the blackbird got shot.on a sidenote, shakespeare 24 was gd haha. well done gan and guojun, and titus and nabil and all! 23 April 2008no more original scores. =(
I've officially quit chorale. ahh well, i have a very bittersweet feeling right now.
i feel like this responsibility's off me and that i've finally come down to a lifestyle which i think i'd be able to live by over the 1 half years ahead. it was a tough decision, and to begin with, i was so apprehensive of joining chorale in rj initially, simply because i wanted to try something new. but i guess the people over in chorale was the main incentive for me to go there, and see how far i could last. my decision to quit definitely wasn't a rash one that i made overnight. i've pondered about it for months, thinking about possible scenarios and when would be the most appropriate time to withdraw. i can still remember how i got all worried about council camp clashing with OM, how the OM results would affect chorale trip, how class camp would affect chorale concert, and how all the intertwined connections just made me bonkers. now, i guess everything fell so in place, and i feel very blessed that it turned out to be what i expected it to be. my only regret? that's not being able to perform for concert. as much as i hope to do so, i have my OM World Finals from 30th may to june 7th in Maryland, US, and i also have council investiture on the 7th may. i'll treasure the short 4 months spent in chorale, and i'll miss those whom i've met in chorale. to all the J1s, punch or punchless, fringe or fringeless, remember you're always one closely-knitted batch, always stay tight and stay strong! to the j2s, thank you so much for everything you've done for us; patiently taking care of us during sectionals, organizing the great camp, looking over our welfare, i think you guys have really enriched my stay in chorale, and it's something i'll never look back in regret. Here's a quick update of what my OM team has come up thus far!
don't you think this is masterfully drawn? it's like so arty-farty! a non-completed part of another scene. ok, and of course, the upcoming concert by RAFFLES CHORALE will be on the 6th May 2008! I know the timing isn't the best possible option, but well if you want a night of truly good music and indulge in the esplanadic atmosphere, then the $16 is definitely worth it!! and yeah, of course, thanks to PWNZ also over the past week!!! 04 April 2008Week 14 (31st March - 6th Apr 2008)1) New Soul - Yael Naim 03 April 2008The past week.
If anything, the past week spelt madness for 157 people.
157 campaigners, all desperately attempting to garner YOUR votes. days and days of campaigning preparations have passed, and none of us really knew how long we could last. but well, we did it, and every single campaigner should be proud of ourselves. albeit the floods of fixtures/posters/stickers/banners everywhere around the school, i believe it was a great experience for everyone, campaigners or not. i learnt a lot about myself throughout this process. learnt about my working styles, learnt about other people's working styles, learnt about time management, and learnt the true concept of time management. everyone who have spent all their time over the past week campaigning definitely are serious about being a councillor. everyone emerged as winners. i really take my hats off to the non-ip students, who are faced with the odds of little popularity within the school campus, yet are fighting so hard to get a space in the council. to my campaign group WOLL, it has been one heck of a journey. i guess there were times where we had disputes amongst ourselves, but eventually, we still got our job done and this will be an experience i'll really never forget. clarissa, wangye, yuzhou, i'm so blessed to have worked with you guys. to 09A03A, thank you so much for all the support you've given me over these few weeks. as goofy and crazy i might be during lessons, you guys know i'm serious about some stuff though! and you guys were always there for me. to be honest, though there are only 12 ppl left in our class, i personally believe this is the most tightly-knitted class i ever had. to everyone else who has helped me during this course, thank you for taking time off to assist in my campaigning. thank you OMT for being so understanding and still work so hard, thank you 2B for still being so supportive, thank you j1 choristers (esp. the gals) for yr wavering-yet-unwavering support, thank you BB'08 for still standing there by me, thank you 4J for lending me your support too, and EVERY SINGLE ONE ELSE who has helped me get through this journey. you all have truly made a difference in my life in RJC. this is just the beginning. i'll not disappoint each and everyone of you who voted for me, and i'll always remember you guys. hope to see you tomorrow, and i hope you would give me your vote, as well as for my campaign group WOLL, consisting of Wang Ye, Clarissa Ong Wei Yi, Lim Bei Long Louis and Lee Yu Zhou. |
