ok! it's been a while since i last updated.
i've been preoccupied with the curse. FACEBOOK. just don't get involved in fighter's club and i'll be fine. LOL. anyway, i've been doing some good mugging for physics and chemistry. will leave maths from monday onwards, because thats when my brain starts functioning in full throttle. got 20/30 for my physics CCT2, which was very surprising considering i didn't even pay attention during the physics lessons, when it was the reign of relief teachers, whom i didn't absorb much from. back to work! 26 September 2007leaves me in a cool cool sweataiyohyoh. the turnout for the auditions for tuesday and wednesday were rather sad. probably because all the performing acts decide to take their auditions either tomorrow or friday, thats why there's literally no one turning up over the past 2 days. for the record, only 6 ppl auditioned for solo cat, and ONE band (a sec 1 band) auditioned for the open category. so this is an appeal for all the rafflesians who desire to have a shot at fame to seize this opportunity and show your talent! who knows, you might walk away with that iPod Touch (for solo cat) or $500 in cold hard cash! (top prize for open cat). just give it all you've got! ------------------- watched 'crimewatch' just now. the crimes they talk about are like 'someone hacked my msn account!! HOWWW???' as well as 'these 2 boys made some bomb and caused an explosion in an open field!!! and there i decided to switch channels to channel newsasia, where the monks are protesting in yangon. sigh~. DMP's coming to a close, and I HAVE A FREE DAY TOMORROW! but i still gotta come for RADIO DJ DMP. bleargh~ and i have focus tmr too, meaning i needa prepare my Cai Yi Biao Yan. AHHH. 24 September 2007breathe in breathe out
hmm.. my RE group's still kept in the dark with regards to what award we actually attained.
and lionel had me hooked to some impossible quiz for an hour. just type 'the impossible quiz' in the google search box. well, if you can reach beyond level 80, you're really good. i reached to the 'toenails' level, and i just died because i couldn't trim the 10 toenails in 6 seconds. argh~. was talking to alaric about how EOYs are just 11 days away (ok in half an hour's time it'll be 10 days) and how we all seem uninspired or unmotivated for it. rather, we're looking forward to what's happening AFTER eoys, which forms the exciting bulk of the remains of my RI life. this EOYs thing is just a boring passing phase, which we all have to study for and hopefully get good grades. ok, at present, i've successfully compiled a rather comprehensive 17 page chemistry notes for my self-study. memorize everything and i think i'd do pretty well. i'm at 0% progress for physics (i'm going to buy a self study-guide book tmr) and 40% for maths. humanities can wait. ahh guys, grad dinner things will be on a hold until after EOYs ok? meanwhile, everyone you guys really need to form tables! response currently is favourable, and the many smses i'm receiving about grad dinner is a good indicator. some of you are asking: "What do we do if there are only 7/8 people per table?" Well, the most probable scenario would be that you either rope in your FTs, or your subjcet teachers to join yr table, either that you get other friends from other classes to join your table. if all fails, then we might have to slot in students who do not have a table into your table. so that pretty much settles all discrepancies. alright, i'm going for the RS audition tomorrow. going the jazz way this time. i do not bear any expectations. listen out for the announcement tomorrow, it's gonna be hot. sorry for the poor organization in this post. all the thoughts are just running through my head and i'm just penning them down as and when i think of something HAHA. ![]() ![]() 23 September 2007Week 39 (17th - 23th Sept 2007)1) The Pretender - Foo Fighters 21 September 2007Integrate with others. Don't differentiate yourself from others. (totally no pun intended)
Alright, people have been getting really flustered and troubled over Grad Night table arrangements. All I have to say is that when it comes down to such scenarios, some people will end up being dissatisfied with the final outcome. As we know, each table can only accomodate 10 people.
The rationale of letting you guys form your own groups is to ensure that you sit with the people whom you're comfortable with, and whom are those in your social circle for these past 4 years. We didn't want to divide you guys into a class being split into 3 tables, as that seems just too generic and might not be to the liking of some. So, that's why we chose the former plan, as this will sort out some of the inherent negative consequences of shuffling you guys according to classes. To all those who are being left out of the 10 (There are many out there who feel the same way), I really hope that you guys don't back out from the Grad Dinner just because of this. It's a once-in-a-lifetime event, and instead of avoiding the thing altogether, why not work on a compromise with your friends? Perhaps things might work out, and might not seem as bleak as you have envisioned. The comms for the Grad Dinner are working hard, they don't want their efforts to go to waste. We have a fantastic programme lined up for that day and we hope that everyone in the batch will not absent themselves from this final batch event. ![]() Create your own Friend Test here Haha, Mr Low gave me this certificate of commendation after we watched 'The Guardian' (an above average movie, though its really really really long, probably due to the many qian hou zhao yings) in the auditorium. 19 September 2007did i turn this thing on?
haha just saw the results for 'live the dream' after watching the performance show. the sugarettes and olynn's out, essentially leaving us with ONE female performer out of the 8 acts. well, i'd leave you to figure out the odds of a female winning a local competition.
and now, i'm left scratching my head, deciding what to do for 'cai yi biao yan' tomorrow. AHH! 17 September 2007Week 38b (14th - 16th Sept 2007)
ok haven't been updating in a while.
well, i'm posting this at 3pm, one of the earliest times i've reached home. =D really, nothing much occurred over the past few days, other than yesterday which my family went to marina south pier to celebrate my brother's birthday. ![]() had dinner @ Pier Eleven, and the food there was nice! Louis is INCREDIBLY, GREATLY, EXCEPTIONALLY, TREMENDOUSLY, NOTABLY happy!
That's because he scored 76 for his MALAY PRELIMS! 76 = A1 = SUPER GOOD. OH MY GOD. well, i didn't go MOELC to collect my results today, as I had the Radio DJ Workshop with Ms Kate Reyes from 91.3fm which shares the same timeslot as my 3rd lang lesson. halfway through the lesson, i received an sms from norris: "You got 76 overall.." - ok by this time i almost fainted already "..Chris 75 Puah 81 Sam 83 Dylan 69 I got 72" - ok 2nd shock was when i realized that i beat chris - and 3rd shock = biggest shock = dylan didn't get an A, and i feel really bad for him coz he really deserves much more than a B3. missed by one mark only leh.. super sad please. i just had to let out a shriek. 76? OMG 76. and i'm actually 3rd in class! never pulled off such a feat before! well, i'm eternally grateful to puan now and i promise to go back moelc and give her a huge thank you, coz i owe her one. my hard work of learning the peribahasa right before the test, and my memory work of my letter introductions, and my memorization of the oral topics ALL PAID OFF. this totally made my day today. worship this place everyone.------------------- ok enough of the jubilation louis. what about your chinese prelims? yes, i didnt do TOO well for my prelims. i scored 63.5%, giving me an overall mark of 65 for my final-year HCL mark = GPA 3.2 = boohoo. basically i screwed up my zong he tian kong, which i scored 6/20. i screwed up my letter-writing (11/20), and my compo (43/70). then ms cai told me that i should never do formal letter-writing for 'O's, and i should do informal instead, because my style of writing is very pure and innocent (hahah?) and it'll have more potential to touch the reader. i didn't know i could do that? anyway, congrats to wenjian for owning the test, scoring 75% for the prelims! (gasps.) ------------------- alright, had a lesson of chinese geomancy today, followed by the CLE quiz (when i told the rgs ppl abt a CLE quiz, all of them just burst out laughing.), and a movie screening of 'The Devil Wears Prada', which I sooooo watched before, and i just had to watch it again, but this time with a much lousier color dynamism of the film. and i feel damn sad today. coz teachers keep calling me LIONEL. I'm not lionel, i'm LOUIS. L-O-U-I-S. L-O-U-I-S. L-O-U-I-S. L-O-U-I-S. =( i shall totally =.= whoever who calls me lionel from now onwards. roar. ------------------ why am i up so late in the night? 1) My DMP lesson starts at 1130. =) 2) I came back from focusmusic rather late, as we covered many fun things today, including telling a ghost story and performing cai yi biao yan. hahah~ ------------------ Week 38a (10th - 13th Sept 07) 1) Gimme More - Britney Spears 2) Valerie - Mark Ronson feat. i'll be frank here, as i'm really ticked off when I saw this message posted on asknlearn.
"Please note that there is a Physics Quiz schedules on Term 4 Week 4. Topic to be tested are : A.C and CRO." to be very honest, i didn't learn much from my teacher for these two topics, particularly the 2nd topic, which basically wasn't covered at all other than the brief introduction of it. And T4W4 surely is the better dates to select, the week where EOYs begin. brilliant. the worst thing is, no notice is made known to us about this quiz, other than the fact that it's being posted on asknlearn. well, maybe they'll inform the classes soon, but I still think it's too late a notice. quite sadly, not much is done to also help us learn this topic. maybe some consultation sessions would be good prior to the quiz. i know some teachers read my blog, so i'll not be nasty about this. but i'm really frustrated by this. looks like i have another topic to 'self-study' on. well, at least i am provided ONE set of notes. ----------------------------------------------------- yuzhou's sick today. hope he gets better, since his violin diploma's coming soon. day started with a lesson on chinese geomancy! learnt the 'yin's and 'yang's and bagua's of this mythically geographical topic. think the module's very enjoyable, and we'll get to roam around the bishan vicinity tomorrow to do a fieldwork research, on whether fengshui affects the businesses of the shops/businesses. this was preceded with analytical chemistry period! haha, ms low's a really nice teacher. went out of the way to try to book a comp lab for us to do our internet research on the consequences of the excessive intake of salt content from fast-food restaurants. ok lah, i don't really regret taking up this module, because it has certain relevance to the chemistry syllabus for the upcoming CT. so it's all worth it! 3rd period's a free period. well, coincidentally CEC Council handover interviews took place during this period, and over lunch. Interviewed a total of 8 candidates, most of which were very keen and seemed capable of taking up this post, which made me rather happy! (to think i initially thought there was a lack of talent.) so to all the candidates who turned up today, thank you so much and you guys truly impressed the teachers and myself. but the verdict is final, and the CEC council Chairman and Vice-Chairman is confirmed. =) for the moment, i shall not say who they are. hahhaaaa~. but they are really strong leaders. One's a really sociable and outspoken individual, another's a very committed and responsible worker. I hope they can work well together! And there it is. One more month before the handover! Ciao! 10 September 2007run and tell that
had two lessons today.
1st period: Analytical Chemistry 2nd & 3rd period: free period = sleeping time 4th period: HCL seriously. 3 weeks of this will just bore me. but it's a good break from all the hectic schedules over the past few terms. but somehow, whenever i'm not preoccupied with something, i just feel empty these days. haha. and i think i'll miss the normal lessons, which ended last week. this only dawned upon me like today. and council interviews taking place tomorrow!! ahh, the handover's nearing. AHHHH. --------------- timbaland and friends perform. in order of appearance: Nelly Furtado - Do it, Timbaland feat. Keri Wilson - The way i are, JT - LoveStoned, JT + Timberland + Nelly Furtado - Give it to me Justin Timberlake bagged four awards, including male artist of the year, best chereography and best direction for 'my love' and 'what goes around...' respectively. britney performed 'gimme more'. ok, she lip-synched, but you can't really blame her coz she hasn't performed on stage in front of an int'l audience since maybe 2003? rihanna's so evil to laugh at britney's routine. nevertheless, she walked home bagging two big awards, Single of the Year and Video of the Year for 'Umbrella'. other awards include: female artist of the year - fergie, best group - fallout boy, best new artist - gym class heroes. (didn't agree with GCH winning best new artist, was rooting for either lily allen or amy winehouse. and believe it or not, carrie underwood was nominated too. how passe.) 09 September 2007this is real quick.2 Nov (Fri) Secondary 4 Graduation Ceremony 08 September 2007Week 37 (3rd - 9th Sept 2007)

RE Congress Semi-finals preceded after Grad Dinner meeting. can say the presentation went along pretty well, and the judges were noticeably delighted, especially when we kept saying that the Service and Learning aspects for RES-L are inextricable from one another. =)
hope we can advance to the finals! but if we don't, then its perfectly alright. after all, it's already great that we got into the semis. FYI, the grad night dinner details are as follows. People who are interested (ok its not compulsory, but come on, after spending 4 years in RI, don't tell me you're not attending the grad dinner - the gala event of them all) Date: 5th November 2007 (Monday, no school by then) Time: around 1900 Venue: Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel (392 Havelock Road, it's near Zouk) Cost: $65 per person (it's once in a lifetime!) So hurry!! make your reservations with your class monitors soon! More details will be given over the next few weeks. [P.S those interested in joining Grad Dinner sub-committees, please please approach Leonard or myself (both 4J. We need manpower!] ------------- Ratatouille (4.5 stars!) Chef Auguste = Chef Gusteau = Chef Auguste Gusteau (sort out the anagrams and you have his name) the remarkable reviews from the movie critics summoned me to catch this movie. and it truly didn't disappoint! loved the emotions on the rat's face, loved how the plot was so emotionally engaging, loved the animation and the food looked so real i regretted not buying anything before entering the cinema. conclusion: pixar rules. it started with toy's story, then the bug's life, then finding nemo, then the incredible, and here you have it: ratatouille. (which means rat's stew). MARVELLOUS!! [oh, and i love the things that Ego said at the end.] winner of america's got talent season 2terry fator, a superb ventriloquist who won this season's AGT. julienne irwin, 14-year-old singer, came in 4th place. 05 September 2007where i stood
in case you were wondering why i wasn't online today, well, thats because i had an outing with my family!! i became a local tourist for the day and i believe dr chionh will be very happy to know that haha =)
Places we visited today included: Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, Mint Muesum of Toys, and the Raffles Muesum. its really amazing that they provide automated chairs for wheelchair-bound people who have difficulty travelling up the stairs. lifts too are provided, nevertheless. the interior design's really classy, and coupled with my great photography skills,i hope this has helped you achieve enlightenment or nirvana. -------------------- next, i relived my childhood memories as we visited the toy muesum, which was absolutely fantastic! (drastic fantastic). the very first thing you see when you enter the lift is this: there were many posters amongst the extremely wide range of toys. and these were posters from the '60s. and there were toys ranging from popeye (with his gf olive oyl) to mickey to the beatles to betty boop to charlie chaplin to felix! Presenting to you....The Evolution of Felix and Mickey! yep, thats about it. visit the toy muesum with your family if you have the time! -------------------------- [random note: sampled some great champagne mooncake on the way to raffles muesum. yummm~~ ]alright. had lunch at miss clarity cafe, located along purvis street. the prices are extremely affordable and value-for-money! you can get a concentrated soup, barley, chicken chop with black pepper sauce, and chocolate ice-cream JUST FOR $8.80!!! and there is NO GST included. and the food is also delicious. ---------------------- i tried to commit suicide. csi. ------------------------ ok HAHA. time to do RE and focusmusic homework! ciao! 04 September 2007Cross-Circle-Square-Triangle
My GREAT RE GROUP came to my house again!
because of them, i had to force myself to install the printer driver to my laptop, which i successfully did so and i'm so thankful! because of them, my PS2 is working again somehow and everyone had great fun manhandling my controller like the angry german boy. and i had a great workout pressing the cross and circle buttons for the olympics game. HAHA. look forward to more of these gatherings after EOYS!! ---- britney's back! her new hairdo is just beeyootiful. (well, if its a digitally-edited photo, then you had me fooled.)fyi, for the music goondos, she's the teenage sweetheart who sang hits like 'hit me baby one more time' and 'toxic'. and she's coming back with a new album, expected to be released in a few months' time! ![]() 03 September 2007Week 36 (27th Aug - 2nd Sept 2007)

alright. how great does it feel to wake up so early in the morning!!!
what a waste there was choir today, if not i'd have just slept through the day. however, i must bear in mind that EOYs are arriving in 5 weeks' time. and that means i really got to BUCK UP. (ok no pun intended >.<) gotta draft out a study timetable by TONIGHT. well oh well, for the record, my RE group is in the Semi-Finals for Congress!!! so my fantastic RE group will be coming over my house tmr! and britney's 'gimme more' actually reached number 80 for billboard airplay, when the song was only leaked a few days ago. this means that britney still has some power with regards to her music. ------- well, as we know, buckley came in overall 5th for the final house standings. this time though, we can't say: "oh, buckley got 5th AGAIN.' yes, we may have taken the last position, but this time, we have proven to others that we're a united house which is as committed and competitive as any other. we only came in 5th in one event this year, i suppose. i believe this legacy will continue in the future batches to come. 02 September 2007ddr geniuscrazy boy. |
